One of the most exciting pieces of news that dropped out of Star Wars Celebration 2019 was the trailer for the brand new Star Wars game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The game has been promised to be a pure single-player experience, with no microtransactions in site. Lovely stuff.
The game has a release date of November 15th, 2019, a slot normally reserved for EA’s Star Wars Battlefront series, and with Respawn as the developers behind the game, we could be seeing a return to form for Star Wars games, something that has been sorely lacking since the closure of LucasArts and EA winning the licence to produce games based on the franchise.
No one would argue that since EA took on the property, they have released a series of lacklustre games that has done little to enhance their reputation, specifically, the monetisation job they tried to pull on Star Wars Battlefront II that backfired drastically and caused sweeping changes to be made to the game.
Players will take on the role of Cal Kestis, portrayed by Gotham actor Cameron Monaghan (he plays the proto-Joker in the series), a Padawan learner, who has managed to survive Order 66, the execution of the Jedi Order. Cal is determined to continue his training in the ways of the Force, no matter what it takes. Of course, no story would be complete without a good villain, and this game features the Sith Inquisitors, an order of hunters tasked with hunting down and destroying the Jedi.
All very exciting stuff.
