Apple is gearing up to enter the new warfront: the gaming world. With Google's recent announcement that they are entering the industry, Apple has thrown its own hat into the the ring with the announcement of Apple Arcade.
Although Apple has always had games on its App Store, this is Apple's first real acknowledgement that gaming is more than just a sidenote of their products. With Apple hardware sales on the decline, they are expected to start leaning on the subscription market to feed sales of their hardware.
With titles announced such as Beyond a Steel Sky, the sequel to cult classic Beneath a Steel Sky, and many others as exclusives on their games package, Appe Arcade can expect a good uptake when it launches later in the year.
Although this will not be a streaming service, the same way as other companies are attempting, but will be a collection of games added to on a monthly basis. Think of it like PS Plus for Apple users.
The full list of games is yet to be announced, but for now we have a partial list of the exclusive games that will be ad-free and only available on Apple Arcade.
